By trade, I have been practicing as a Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) for 10 years. As an SLP, I have taken on many challenging situations as a result of insurance challenges.

From seeing patients forced to leave a skilled rehab facility due to ending coverage to families unable to hire in-home caregivers due to lack of coverage, I’ve seen far too much of it. Initially, I was hesitant to join the insurance industry. I won’t lie.

But then I actually thought about it. If I can help a family find a life insurance plan, health insurance coverage, or hospital indemnity policy that will actually support them, isn’t that better than just getting mad? I would get so frustrated at the facility and the system because my patient, who couldn’t remember how to safely get dressed, was being discharged because they could walk 250 feet… they were naked - but they could walk.

If that patient had a long-term care insurance plan better suited to their needs, they could have had more time in rehab. That extra time could mean the difference between another fall or walking around safely. No, an insurance plan isn’t a doctor. But it can provide the environment and time for healing to happen. That’s the part I want to help with.
